| content: | The case concerned the time taken by the European Commission to conclude its assessment of an infringement complaint about Sweden’s compliance with the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when allowing private operators to publish personal data of natural persons on the internet. In her complaint to the Ombudsman, the complainant contended that the time taken by the Commission to handle her infringement complaint was not reasonable and the Commission had failed to reply to her numerous requests about the state of play. The Ombudsman found that, while the Commission had taken a long time to handle the complaint, including seemingly taking no action during one year, the Commission had overall actively investigated the case throughout the years. Since the Commission apologised for the failure to reply to the complainant’s requests and committed to keep her better informed in future, the Ombudsman closed the inquiry with the conclusion that no further inquiries |
