| content: | Dear Mr X, In July 2025, you submitted a complaint to the European Ombudsman against the European Commission concerning how it handled your request to open an infringement procedure against Germany for the reintroduction of border controls (CPLT(2025)00783). In your complaint to the Commission, you said that, as an Austrian citizen with a Ukrainian license plate on your car, you are regularly and disproportionately selected for identity checks by the German Federal Police at the German-Austrian border. The Federal Police claims this is not a discriminatory selection, but you disagree. You argued that such practice is contrary to EU free movement rights, as established by the Court of Justice of the European Union[1].
